If I Add Links To Fast Will I Be Banned From Google?

climbing-google-search-results-pageThis is a question that I see so many times in forums that it seems that there must be somebody somewhere trying to scare people by this.  In reality this is more of an old wives tale.  The speed at which you build inbound links to a website can help or hurt your rankings only in the matter of how well you are rewarded.  There are no negative effects of building links to fast, you simply will not receive the positive benefit of building links slowly or consistently.

The rate that new links are added to a website are not near as important as the consistency. If Google sees one link a day being added every day and then all of a sudden there are 500 new links in one day, they are not going to yank your site from their search results, but they will not count these links as valid back links to your site either. Google is looking for natural and organic links to your site, so if you keep this in mind when you build links you will see how Google takes note and your site will be rewarded accurately.

So the answer to the question is no you will not be banned from Google if you add a gazillion links in one day, but it can be much more beneficial to go slow and sure instead. Hopefully this puts the rumor about building links to fast to rest once and for all. Another reason that Google simply cannot give a negative effect for quick link building is that any competitor of yours could use this as a tactic to bring your site down.  Google does try to make it hard for others who are trying to hurt your site, to be able to do anything that can really effect your rankings through time and this is just one of their default failsafe features in place.

Did You Earn Your Link?

earn-your-link-seo-hurtsSo many webmasters today want to snap their fingers and have links magically start falling from the sky. Well, let me tell you, that is not how it works! Yes, you can use some lame software to throw links out all over the internet and you may notice some temporary rise in your search rankings or maybe even a little bit of real traffic. However, this is not what you want to be doing if you are trying to build a strong and lasting web presence for yourself.

Link Building Basics and How To Earn It!

Link building is a process and a passion for some, but don’t be fooled link building can, does and should require some hard work.  Doing research to find sites that will truly be beneficial is some of the most tedious, but important parts of a search engines optimization experts job.  Then working out link deals or even trying to find sites that allow you to put your own content on and in most cases writing concise search engine friendly copy is the next step.  Setting timelines for gradual link growth and pacing ones work is also of the utmost importance.  These are just the basics to really dig into what it takes to create a link building campaign that will prove to be successful.

The orchestration and implementation of all the skills needed to keep up with the constant changes in the SEO world can be very time consuming and is not an easy duty.  Anybody that has tried to build a site from the ground up and the get a massive amount of traffic to it, has definitely put in the hours and most likely some blood, sweat and tears too.  There are some alternatives to following this process that can be more efficient but may require you to brush up on your writing skills a little bit.

Creating Content That Earns You Links

This is what most site owners should be striving for.  You need to make content so damn good, that any other webmaster in the world would be proud to link to it. I am not talking about something that makes you say “oh, cool maybe I’ll share that on my site or twitter”   but something that makes you say “wholly #$@&*, where can I get a link to this up, so everybody will think I am cool for showing it to them!”  This is what you want, something that really hits home with its reader, something that strikes an emotion, something that is shocking!

The hardest link you will ever get is one that you earned.  So how do you really earn a link? Well what is the last piece of content you linked to that was not your own?  What make you want to link to it?  Did it help you? Most likely it was either something useful or something shocking, these are the two biggest link bait ideas out there and they do work.  To get these totally free juicy inbound links you may have to work for it.  You may have to study other successful articles, read more on how to write better and most of all learn how to keep your readers attention.  This is the behind the scenes work of real seo experts and can lead to more backlinks to your site than you know what to do with.

Natural External Links

Now that you, much like everyone else have made the realization that truly “content” is king, are you ready to take on the seo challenge and write one new article or post every single day of the week for your internet project?  If you are up to it and you start creating plenty of great content, the search engines will take notice and more importantly people will too.  You cannot get links  on many sites that would be glad to just give away a inbound link to you, that is if you write interesting and helpful articles.

In closing we ask, please, please,  what ever you do, Don’t Link To Us!  :-)

3 Simple Link Building Methods

View SEO always tries to help the new guy first.  SEO is not an easy game to play, but if you don’t know where to start, you will never succeed, so if you are an SEO expert, yes we understand this article is basic, we have plenty of high end seo methodology coming soon!

If you are new to Search Engine Optimization or “SEO” as you will see it from time to time, you may not be familiar with what link building is or how to go about it.  So lets get started here.

So What Is Link Building?

In a nutshell Link Building is just the process of creating links on other web sites that direct web site traffic back to your site.  However there is a little more to it than that.

Why Is Link Building Important?

Search engines like Google.com Yahoo.com and Bing.com also use the amount of links that point to any particular site as a measure of the value of a site against the keyword used in a link.  All this means is that the more links that use the same keyword or keyword phrase that point to your site, the higher it may rank in the search engines for that same phrase.

Now, of course there are other factors that come into play here, but this is one of the biggest factors that will determine your sites standings on search engines results pages, besides on page content.

There is no more basic seo strategy than link building, this is one of the most integral skills you will learn and refine as you become an SEO expert!

3 Simple Link Building Methods

O.K. lets get down to it.  There are many, many ways that you can get free links and there are also many ways you can build links for free. We are only going to cover the most effective free methods here, you can spend your money elsewhere…

  1. Social Bookmarking – Yes, these sites are actually created for nothing more than sharing links to your favorite sites.  So why not share links to your own site?  Well, this is true, but be forewarned that you cannot just add a hundred links to your own sites, you must also add links to other sites that are of interest to you or you will be seen as a spammer.Sites In This Category Are: Digg.com Reddit.com StumbleUpon.com Mixx.com and Delicious.com
  2. Forum Posting – This is in some peoples minds an old and out of date method in which to acquire valuable back links.  Not True!
So how do you go about getting a back link to your site on a forum?  Simple, sign up for a few forums and start posting, keep in mind that the more value you bring to your messages the more chance of you getting direct traffic from the forum members.  You can go to your user account or your profile and setup a link to your site in the signature on most any forum in the world.  Not all allow this, so make sure to read the user agreement first, just in case.
  3. Blog Commenting – This is a very similar method to forum posting, but still very different.  There are many different types of blogs out there and there are many different types commenting forms for readers to submit to.  There is no guarantee that your link will find its way to the comment section of a blog, most will have to be approved by the site administrator first, so make sure that you add value to your comment so they will want to post it.  This is a great way to zero in on your target audience though, search for blogs that are in the same niche as your own site and start reading and commenting.
  1. You can get your first link on this very post if you like.  If there are no comments yet, at the bottom of this article you will see “Leave A Comment” and if there is already comments here, you will see “Comments” followed by the number of comments.  Click This and Leave Your Comment On Our Article and of Course Your Link!

I know that this is a very basic methodology, but we all have to start somewhere.  I hope that somebody found this useful and it helps you on your way to more traffic, a more successful website and your journey to become an seo expert!

To Success,

Nick Simpson
