This a questions webmasters have been asking for years. Will the dofollow or nofollow links be better for my website’s search engine optimization? We the answer is not an easy one because even SEO experts have different opinions on the topic.

Many webmasters hunt for sites that allow the “dofollow” links and also allow commenting on there site to make many free back links to there site. This can be an effective SEO tactic if it is done well and at a slow pace, remember link building is not a race, actually sites that build back links to quickly will be penalized by most search engines.

The perceived problem with allowing dofollow tags and links on your site, is that web site surfers can post links to your site that will get viewed by search engine bots. Does having a bunch of links that do not have PR value or maybe are not even in the same niche as your site help? Probably not, but that is the discussion, it may be possible for these type of links to actually hurt your own sites ranking and search engine results.

This is why many webmasters who are trying to get there page listed high in search results will use a “nofollow” tag on all of there blogs or forums, thus allowing people to post links that still function on the site, but just do not count on search engine rankings and results.

Adding a nofollow tag to your links is supposed to stop search engines from indexing that link on your page. According to this video from Revver.Com this may not always work.

View Seo hopes that you found this video informative and helpful, if you are interested in finding sites that have dofollow links to help you build back links to your own web site, here is a dofollow only search engine you can use.
