Are You Exposing Yourself?

exposureNow, don’t take your close of guys, that was the type of exposure I was talking about.  I am talking about your website, your product and you!  How much exposure do you have online?  Well most people have no idea and there is a good reason for that because so many people go out and “do” things every day trying to get more website exposure but they do not take the time to track the exposure they are getting.

The two easiest ways to find out how much exposure your website is getting is by looking at alexa.com rankings or looking at your google PR or Page Rank.  These are 2 quick easy and broadly accepted metrics to see how much exposure your is or in some cases is not getting.

You may also want to put your RSS feed on feedburner, which will automatically track how many people are reading and subscribing to your rss feed, this site is another google service, just like blogger and blogspot, thanks again google.  And of course, you can always login to the control panel provided by your web host to view your website statistics or daily views.

I know that I did not go into details on the above topics but you can google what you are not familiar with or email me or simply keep reading my newer articles, I will cover them all in time!

Now that you have a few ways to check your exposure, lets talk about some quick ways to get more exposure.

1. Write High Quality Web Content

no matter what methods of promotion you are using, if the content is crap, it makes no difference, so lets start at the bottom and build up! Take time, do research and if needed pay others to write good quality content for every site you are working with.  No body wants to give free word of mouth advertising unless your content sticks out, so give people a reason to “Want” to talk about you and your site.

2. Use RSS Submittion Services

So many people say “well, how much traffic can rss feeds bring any way?” but the reality is, they will bring you absolutely no traffic, if you don’t use them.  But, if used correctly RSS feeds can be one of the most effective methods to getting free traffic.  Most any service to promote your site using RSS is also free, so this is a great budget marketing method.

3. Forum and Blog Commenting

Yes, we have all heard this before, but how many of you actually set time aside every day to make blog comments and forum posts that link back to your newest article or posts on your own website. I am sure the numbers are low, so quit being a “I’m gonna” guy and start being a “I did” guy!  There is no better way to build free back links to your site and give google something to chew on.

4. Social Networking and Bookmarking Sites

This is THE BIGGEST thing that you can do to instantly boost any websites traffic.  No not just posting your links on facebook and digg, but more importantly GROWING you circle of friends or followers.  If you have 5 friends on facebook and you send out a link, the most people that can click it is 5.  If you have 3000 friends, believe me, you willl get more attention to your links!  Build your following not your list of promotions on the social sites and the traffic will flow.  Don’t forget hubpages  and squidoo, they are great places to get your info up as well! Which leads us into the final point for this article.

5.  Feeder Sites

Have you ever thought about making 5 10 or even 50 free mini sites that all have nothing but small articles that link back to your main webpage?  Well that is what I am talking about when I say “feeder sites.”  Sites like blogspot, weebly, fortuneboard and many others will let you start as many blogs as you want for absolutely free and you can make short mini posts and at the end of each post, say for more info [yourlink] and you will see your main sites traffic go through the roof if you take time to promote these little guys.

Force Google To Index Your Site Today

google-opensocialIt seems like every body wants there web site indexed by google, the minute that they upload the index file to the server these days.  I for one don’t mind waiting for the site to get found organically, but there are some advantages of having the site indexed immediately.  Especially if you are going to sell a website or domain name, you want to make sure it shows up in google or people will know that the site was just thrown up and that does not look good.

Well the speed at which google will see a new domain name and decide it has enough value or worth to index it now, is dependent on where your site has been linked to, from.  Meaning that if you could get a link on the front page of MSN, Disney, Forbes or any huge site with high page rank, google will assume that your website is “important” and index it.  However, getting a link on sites like these is not easy and far from cheap.

So, that in mind, let me offer you another method to get your website on a high PR site with a direct link back to your website that google will love, for free and very little effort.  Getting listed on an “Authority” site is much easier than one would think.  You just have to know which sites google considers to be an “Authority.”  We are going to tell you the top free sites that google likes below, so keep reading.

Well, with all the recent rage of social media, social marketing, social networking and anything else that has the word social in it, google has started to really like sites with links on social bookmarking sites.  It really is nothing new that google will really boost search results and move up the index rate of any site that has links on social sites, but it is one of the most overlooked methods of old school seo experts. These sites are all easy to use and of course free.

The top sites to submit a press release to are Digg.com, Reddit.com, and StumbleUpon.com

There are many other sites of high PR and value to google, however these sites have so many new links being posted at such a rapid rate, that google Constantly indexes there news feeds and this can lead to lightning fast indexing of any site that is linked to on them.  Links on Facebook.com Linkedin.com Myspace.com and any other popular social network will all give similar results, but why not just use the cream of the crop?

Twitter has also shown a high rate of index value and many times, like digg, you can get on the first page of google within hours!

So take your time and make sure that your submissions to these sites are professional and not spammy and you will not believe how fast you can get any web site indexed by the google search engine.
