What is a Key Word?
Posted by SEO Tips in SEO F.A.Q., View Seo on December 18th, 2008
A keyword is simply a single word or a short phrase that is relevant to your web site or blog that you are trying to promote. If you are running a web hosting site and are looking for keywords you may come up with terms like: website hosting, shared hosting, cheap hosting accounts and so on.
The keywords are usually used for the Meta Tags on a site and also for links to the site, you may make a link like this using your own keywords SEO Tips which is much better than a normal link like this one: http://viewseo.com
Using keywords on a link like this is a great way to get search engines to focus on your site in relationship to the keywords.
So what it all breaks down to is this, if you want to be found in search results when somebody searches “dogs” you need to start building links on other sites, that link back to your site, using “dogs” as the text of your links.
Spread Out Your Keywords

Many people here are already aware of what keyword density is. If you are not it is a simple metric to measure how many times you keyword shows on a page in relation to every other word on the page. If you have 2 words on one page and your keyword is one of them, then your keyword density will be 50%.
Many webmasters will spend a long time trying to figure out how to fit there keywords into a page as many times as possible and still make the sentences sound natural. This is part of SEO and is expected.
However we have noticed that there are many times that we have ran across an article that will have a keyword phrase 3 or more times in the beginning of the article and then none on the rest of the page.
For optimum SEO results, you will want to have your keywords in the top, middle, and bottom section of your site. If you spread your keywords out like this not only is it favorable to search engines but it will also make your document not look so, forced.
So the next time you are writing advertising copy or just content for your website remember to “Spread Out Your Keywords”.
Is Page Rank Dead?
Posted by SEO Tips in SEO Videos, View Seo on December 14th, 2008
I watched a video from Web Pro News, shown below. The video shows an interview provided by Web Pro News at Pubcon. It seems that there may be a bleak future for Page Rank as we know it. Apparently the major search engines are all going to be changing over to user driven search results in the first quarter of next year.
What does this Mean?
Well the main thing, is that there will no longer be a true organic search result.
No matter if you sign in to your google or yahoo account they will still be tracking your search history and the pages that are displayed on your search results will be biased to past searches and what you have already clicked on. This will make it pretty much impossible for a webmaster to search for his site and get the same results as, well, pretty much any body else.
So how will we know how our page ranks in search results in the future?
Well hopefully the search engines like google will create some sort of sandbox search so you can see results before they go the the hundreds of variables that googles new search will consider before giving you your personalized search results. In some cases like local restaurants, this search should prove to be beneficial to the user because it will include IP based geotargeting.
This will give you results of addresses that are close to your computers ip address physically, but maybe not the highest ranked site for your search.
