Did You Earn Your Link?
Posted by SEO Tips in Link Building, SEO Techniques, SEO Tips, View Seo on March 31st, 2010
So many webmasters today want to snap their fingers and have links magically start falling from the sky. Well, let me tell you, that is not how it works! Yes, you can use some lame software to throw links out all over the internet and you may notice some temporary rise in your search rankings or maybe even a little bit of real traffic. However, this is not what you want to be doing if you are trying to build a strong and lasting web presence for yourself.
Link Building Basics and How To Earn It!
Link building is a process and a passion for some, but don’t be fooled link building can, does and should require some hard work. Doing research to find sites that will truly be beneficial is some of the most tedious, but important parts of a search engines optimization experts job. Then working out link deals or even trying to find sites that allow you to put your own content on and in most cases writing concise search engine friendly copy is the next step. Setting timelines for gradual link growth and pacing ones work is also of the utmost importance. These are just the basics to really dig into what it takes to create a link building campaign that will prove to be successful.
The orchestration and implementation of all the skills needed to keep up with the constant changes in the SEO world can be very time consuming and is not an easy duty. Anybody that has tried to build a site from the ground up and the get a massive amount of traffic to it, has definitely put in the hours and most likely some blood, sweat and tears too. There are some alternatives to following this process that can be more efficient but may require you to brush up on your writing skills a little bit.
Creating Content That Earns You Links
This is what most site owners should be striving for. You need to make content so damn good, that any other webmaster in the world would be proud to link to it. I am not talking about something that makes you say “oh, cool maybe I’ll share that on my site or twitter” but something that makes you say “wholly #$@&*, where can I get a link to this up, so everybody will think I am cool for showing it to them!” This is what you want, something that really hits home with its reader, something that strikes an emotion, something that is shocking!
The hardest link you will ever get is one that you earned. So how do you really earn a link? Well what is the last piece of content you linked to that was not your own? What make you want to link to it? Did it help you? Most likely it was either something useful or something shocking, these are the two biggest link bait ideas out there and they do work. To get these totally free juicy inbound links you may have to work for it. You may have to study other successful articles, read more on how to write better and most of all learn how to keep your readers attention. This is the behind the scenes work of real seo experts and can lead to more backlinks to your site than you know what to do with.
Natural External Links
Now that you, much like everyone else have made the realization that truly “content” is king, are you ready to take on the seo challenge and write one new article or post every single day of the week for your internet project? If you are up to it and you start creating plenty of great content, the search engines will take notice and more importantly people will too. You cannot get links on many sites that would be glad to just give away a inbound link to you, that is if you write interesting and helpful articles.
In closing we ask, please, please, what ever you do, Don’t Link To Us! :-)
Google Social Search Is Live – Is Your Profile Ready?
Google social search has received a lot hype in the media and many people thought that this was going to really alter the organic search results on Google. This could not be further from the truth. The new social search features on the Google search engine are going to pull data from Google profiles. Whithin your Google profile you can specify which websites are your own and where you have profiles on other social sites. From this information google will build a huge database of who knows who and this will be what is used for the basis of there social search while you are logged into your google account.
It is not quite as scary as many of us thought and for the most part will have little to do with SEO, nor will it change the way that web site optimization is performed. Now, unless things change that is, we only have the facts provided in the video below for right now. Many think that the way Google is gathering information is part of a bigger conspiracy, but we are going to take it for face value until we hear otherwise.
The video we found is created by Google so you know that the information is straight from the horses mouth on this one.
Leave any comments and questions you have about the google social search feature below and leave a link to your Google profile too if you want others to find you!
Looking forward to all the other new cool stuff from Google,
What Is SERP?
Posted by SEO Tips in SEO F.A.Q., View Seo on December 9th, 2009
S.E.R.P is a just an abbreviation for Search Engine Results Pages. This is a term that you will see used often when web sites or people are discussing search engine optimization. All that SERP means is the results on page after you run a search in google, yahoo, bing or any other search engine.
Many webmasters and seo experts use the placement of their web site on a SERP as a measurement of their seo efforts. Of course everybody wants there page to show up as the first listing on search engine results pages, but this is not easily achieved and depending on what keyword you are trying to focus on, this can take a very long time to achieve.
This is one of the most frequently asked seo questions, because this term is thrown around so often with out any explanation.
Understanding search engine results pages and your ranking is a basic skill required to become an seo master. So, now you can continue your search engine optimization learning process and know what these guys are talking about!
Google Real Time Search Goes Live!
Google real time search is here! If you have been hearing about the new Google live search, it is no rumor, it is live as we speak.
Yep, you have heard about it, you have read about it and rather you like it or not, the Google real time search is live! This is one of the many changes that google has been going through for some time now and don’t worry there are many more to come. The full roll-out of the Google Caffeine Engine is still mid-swing and will not be totally complete until after the first the year.
The newest addition to Gooles standard search is a “real time” search of the most popular social networks on the web. The new “by the second” search will include results from Facebook, Twitter and Myspace. It is rumored that Google has struck a formal deal with all the companies we just listed, so this means that there is some money getting thrown around. I for one think it is about time Twitter found a way to make a dollar, but at the same time I am not so sure how I feel about the twitter results showing in Google.
As the emensely popular google search continues to evolve, there are many new things for webmasters to take into consideration when they are working on their sites search engine standings. How this addition will effect your sites standings is still to be determined and may not really become a factor, besides these “real time” results may bump all results down a small way on the page.
The main concern that this new section on the SERP (Search Engine Results Pages) is that by showing constantly updated results from all these sites, it may be in effect rewarding those who are constantly spamming these same social networks. I am sure that Google has something in mind to fix this issue, but for the time being, don’t be surprised, if you start seeing a million tweets of the same content while people try to sneak there way onto the first page of google!
To Success,
Nick Simpson
