It doesn't matter that you have backlinks on a bunch of different sites if the anchor text all says the same thing and the links all go back to the same page it isn't going to help with Google at all. I did a review for this site and they had massive amount of backlinks PR3 and up. However, their site was a PR1 and had very poor results in the SEs.
